  • Decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies using appropriate sterilization methods, such as autoclaving, gas sterilization, and chemical disinfection.
  • Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and trays, ensuring all items are clean, functional, and free from defects.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures, including load contents, sterilization cycles, and biological test results.
  • Monitor and operate sterilization equipment, following established protocols and safety guidelines to ensure effective sterilization processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of sterile supplies, maintaining a sterile environment and preventing contamination.
  • Prepare and distribute sterile surgical instruments and supplies to operating rooms and other clinical areas as needed.
  • Keep inventory of sterile processing supplies and order replacements as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Follow infection control protocols and standard precautions to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new sterile processing staff, providing guidance on proper techniques and protocols.
  • Stay current with advancements in sterilization techniques and practices through continuing education and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of sterile processing.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to address any issues related to instrument sterilization and availability.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives to enhance sterile processing services.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
