Travel Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse job duties

While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel NICU RN responsibilities:

  • Assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on the severity of their condition.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and intravenous fluids as prescribed by physicians to stabilize patients.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition, responding promptly to changes and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Perform emergency procedures, such as CPR, wound care, and airway management, as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patients' medical histories, assessments, treatments, and progress accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
  • Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Coordinate patient transfers to other departments or facilities as required, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during their stay in the Emergency Room.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with advancements in emergency nursing practices.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all nursing interventions, patient responses, and any changes in condition.
