Travel Occupational Therapist job duties

While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel OT responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to determine their needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Design and implement therapeutic activities to help patients improve their ability to perform daily tasks and achieve greater independence.
  • Evaluate patients' progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques to continue therapy at home and promote long-term health and well-being.
  • Use adaptive equipment and assistive devices to aid patients in performing tasks and enhancing their quality of life.
  • Document patients' medical histories, assessments, treatment plans, and progress accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care for patients.
  • Develop and conduct patient and family education programs to improve understanding of conditions and the importance of occupational therapy.
  • Advise on home modifications and workplace adaptations to accommodate patients' needs and ensure a safe environment.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients and their families throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advancements in occupational therapy practices.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of occupational therapy practice.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend adjustments to prevent injury and improve performance in various settings.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Supervise and mentor occupational therapy assistants and students, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
