Travel CT Tech job duties

While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel CT Tech responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Position patients correctly on the CT table to obtain the necessary images, ensuring proper alignment and minimal movement.
  • Operate CT scanners to perform diagnostic imaging procedures, adjusting settings as needed to capture high-quality images.
  • Administer contrast agents orally or intravenously, as required, to enhance image quality and assist in diagnosis.
  • Monitor patients during scans to detect any adverse reactions to contrast agents or changes in condition, responding promptly if needed.
  • Review and evaluate CT images for clarity, completeness, and diagnostic quality, ensuring all necessary views are captured.
  • Document patient information, scan details, and any observations accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings, ensure accurate diagnoses, and provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot CT equipment, performing routine maintenance and reporting any malfunctions for repair.
  • Ensure a sterile and clean environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining the cleanliness of the CT suite.
  • Follow established protocols and safety guidelines to protect patients, staff, and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Educate patients and their families on the CT scanning process, including any pre-scan preparations and post-scan care instructions.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advancements in CT technology and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of CT imaging practice.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating CT appointments to ensure efficient workflow and minimal patient wait times.
