Travel Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse job duties

While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel IR RN responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures by conducting pre-procedure assessments, obtaining medical histories, and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
  • Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed, and monitor patients' responses throughout procedures.
  • Assist radiologists and other healthcare professionals during interventional procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and support.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to any changes.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols and ensuring proper sterilization of equipment.
  • Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
  • Educate patients and their families about the procedures, post-procedure care, and potential complications to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications, managing pain, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  • Ensure all interventional radiology equipment is properly maintained, sterilized, and ready for use.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families throughout the interventional radiology process.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with advancements in interventional radiology nursing practices.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in the interventional radiology unit, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Coordinate patient transfers to other departments or facilities as required, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
