Travel Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse job duties

While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel IR RN responsibilities:

Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures by conducting pre-procedure assessments, obtaining medical histories, and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed, and monitor patients' responses throughout procedures.
Assist radiologists and other healthcare professionals during interventional procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and support.
Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to any changes.
Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols and ensuring proper sterilization of equipment.
Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
Educate patients and their families about the procedures, post-procedure care, and potential complications to ensure understanding and compliance.
Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications, managing pain, and ensuring patient comfort.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
Ensure all interventional radiology equipment is properly maintained, sterilized, and ready for use.
Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families throughout the interventional radiology process.
Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with advancements in interventional radiology nursing practices.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of patient care.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in the interventional radiology unit, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
Coordinate patient transfers to other departments or facilities as required, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
