Travel Electrophysiology Registered Nurse job duties

While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel EP RN responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for catheterization procedures, explaining the process and answering any questions they may have.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after procedures to ensure stability and safety.
  • Assist the cardiologist and other healthcare professionals during catheterization procedures by providing necessary instruments and equipment.
  • Administer medications and contrast agents as prescribed and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by following strict infection control protocols and procedures.
  • Document all patient information, including pre-procedure assessments, procedural details, and post-procedure observations, accurately in electronic health records.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-procedure care, potential complications, and follow-up appointments.
  • Coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and communication across all stages of the catheterization process.
  • Manage emergency situations by performing advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and other life-saving interventions as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly sterilized, maintained, and ready for use in procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous education to stay current with advancements in catheterization techniques and practices.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families throughout the catheterization process.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, policies, and standards in the Cath Lab environment.
