Job Description Summary
The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist is a surgical technologist working as part of the team that delivers surgical care in the operating room. The CVOR technologist is specialized in heart and vascular services. The technologist possesses knowledge and skills in sterile and aseptic technique as well as has knowledge in a broad variety of surgical procedures and instrumentation to anticipate and assist the surgeon throughout the procedure.
Job Description
Organizes and prepares case set-up prior to start of case according to standard operating procedures.
Assists the Registered Nurse with circulating duties i.e. preps, retrieving supplies, printing pictures.
Cleans, assembles, operates, and properly cares for instruments, supplies, and equipment used in team specialties including bronchoscopy and EGD equipment.
Assisting in orientation and training of second heart scrubs.
Provides patient care, according to diagnosis/procedure, utilizing the procedure cards and following established hospital policies and procedures.
Documents procedure changes on procedure cards following each case. Responsible for ordering and stocking supplies. Prints procedure cards, as well as assist Registered Nurse during on-call cases to include Lab, Blood Bank, etc.
Participates in measuring and monitoring quality indicators and outcomes. Subject matter expert for vascular and endovascular.
Identifies and communicates unusual techniques and instruments required for surgery including complex life savings devices and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
