Surgical Technologist - Operating Room - Travel - (Surg Tech - OR)

About Facility: Address: 489 State St., Bangor, ME 04401 Beds: 411 Licensed Beds Level II Trauma General Information: Number of ORs: 22 Minimum Years of Experience? RN: 1 year of experience minimally, would prefer more CST: 1 year of experience minimally, would prefer more Will you accept a first-time traveler? Prefer at least 1 travel assignment – need manager approval to offer first time travelers Case Types: All ages (Peds to Adults) – 26 service lines offered Peds cases are heavily ENT, General and Ortho Neuro – highly preferred (needs manager approval to offer), craniotomy and large tumor resections, TLIF, burr holes, fusions, VP shunts, discectomies Trauma/General (open and laparoscopic) – open bellies, bowel, gallbladder, appendix, hernias, portacath, fistulas, breasts, plastics, GSW, Stabbings, Liver lacerations, spleen etc. Vascular – preferred but not required - open and endo – carotid, fistula, fem pop, endo AAA, stenting, TCARs Urology – laser lithotripsy, nephroureteral stent insertion/removal, vasectomies, TURPs, cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Percutaneous Nephrostomy, Penile Implants ENT – T&As, endoscopic sinus, facial lesions, thyroids, nick dissection, laryngoscopies GYN – tubal ligations, D&Cs, hysteroscopies, hysterectomies (abdominal and vaginal), uterine ablations Ortho and Ortho Trauma – Total joints (knees and hips, shoulders), fractures/ORIF of all bones, wrists, ankles, ACL repairs, fingers, carpal tunnel, rods (bipolar and nailings), podiatry and ankle, sports medicine Robotics – preferred experience with Davinci XI, not required. If robotically trained, proof of Intuitive Training modules is essential Ophthalmology – Retina Thoracic Max Facial and Dental No burns Cases performed per day (average): Average about 60 cases per day Required and Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS Scrub Tech: BLS, CST is preferred but not required Skills required: RN: Experience with above case types Circulating only Cerner experience required Comfortability to wear lead Scrub Tech: Experience with above case types Comfortability to wear lead Support on the Unit: Supervisor/Manager; Assistant Manager (CST); Assistant NM; Team Leads for each service line 8 Service Line Team Leaders CRNAs Anesthesiologist Anesthesia Tech will help turn over room Orderly to help will help turn over room Equipment Reps Charge RNs OR Educator RT 24/7 Technology/Equipment: EMR: Cerner – experience required for RNs IV pumps: Alaris Medication dispensing: Pyxis Floating: If yes, where? None Orientation: 2 days with Preceptor Scheduling: Operating hours: 24/7 Schedule Cycle: 4 weeks Shift: 8h, 10h, 12h shifts – will depend on requisition Weekend rotation: 1 weekend day per 4-week schedule Weekend shift will be shift they are hired into Saturday or Sunday, but not both Call required for RN and CST: 2-3 call shifts per 4 weeks on average – will always be tacked on to their scheduled shift Will be a mixture of “C1” & “Overnight Call” Weekday: C1 Call – short call EOS to 7p Overnight call – EOS to 7a Emergency or covering a call out – please ensure traveler understands they may be mandated to work this shift overnight, if there is a staff call in Weekends: a weekend call could happen (if they were already scheduled) and would count as the 2-3 call shift requirement, per 4-week schedule period Response Time: 30 minutes No sleep room Holiday Expectations? Minimal but will depend on schedule – only Major holidays are celebrated in this OR RTO: Manager approval Other notes: Scrub Color: Surgical scrubs provided Parking: Free
